Review of Smoant Ranker 218W. Ordinary Ant

The Chinese company Smoant definitely pleases with its new products, which have appeared on the market recently. This review is dedicated to one of these devices, which was released at the beginning of the year – Smoant Ranker 218W.

And again I would like to draw attention to the products of the Chinese Smoant, who have been releasing excellent devices lately. And if earlier the manufacturer modestly kept silent about the “inspirers” of the appearance of its devices, then here it directly declares the Unique design. Of course, finding box mods designed in a similar military theme is not at all difficult, and even more so with a wide Fire button, but still the guys have finally started trying to make truly non-standard devices. Today we will talk about the battery mod Smoant Ranker 218W DOUBLE UI TC MOD, which was born after the “cylon”.

The device comes to the buyer in a box made of thick black cardboard with a schematic image of the Smoant Ranker resting inside. buy vape devices On the front side, in addition to the full name of the mod, you can find a round sticker with the color of the device, mine turned out to be Black. On the back side, the contents are listed and the manufacturer’s details are indicated, next to the barcode are standard pictograms, and in the corner there is a familiar sticker with a check for the originality of your purchase. Under the lid, you will find a pile of papers, the mod itself, and next to the device, a USB – micro USB cable in a separate black box.

The set is quite standard for any box mod (read – minimalistic) – a cable and a bunch of waste paper, nothing special to note. If you do not look at the instructions with color illustrations, which Smoant has finally become multilingual. The authors even took the trouble to add a table with the TCR of common materials for winding.

Smoant Ranker 218W Manual

The new Smoant box mod most closely resembles a handle or magazine from some kind of firearm, primarily due to the upper beveled platform where the connector is located, and the protrusion slightly overhanging the button only enhances this impression. The device turned out to be quite large, both in height and in width and height, and serious weight (metal case) gives a sense of reliability of the whole structure. As in Cylon 218W, the design uses a leather sticker (it is unlikely to be real, but it looks and serves really well – the experience of using both this mod and the previous one did not reveal any problems with it), in this version it is black, as is the case coating. Despite the impressive size and weight, Ranker 218W lies in the hand perfectly, sharp edges and corners do not dig into the palm, and the “leather” adds “warmth” to the device. The plastic panel covering the screen is expectedly instantly covered with fingerprints, the rest of the case with a slightly pearlescent coating is not so easily soiled, traces are not so noticeable on it.

At the time of publication of the review, three design options of the Smoant Ranker were presented on the manufacturer’s website: completely black Black, as in this review; Tarnish with a gray body, black Fire and brown “skin”; Camo with a body painted in a spotted camouflage.

Impressions and conclusions

Gorgon RDCA (26mm) on Smoant Ranker 218WThe Smoant Ranker 218 box mod has been in use for about a week, there are no special complaints about the device, everything works clearly, without problems and glitches. The case assembly is excellent, nothing rattles or dangles, all the paint and “leather” are in place (as with the actively used Cylon). No complaints about the board, an excellent screen, one of the first in Chinese box mods with normal color rendering, not reminiscent of the first mobile phones with color displays. The response time to pressing Fire is very pleasing, everything here is familiar to owners of Smoant Cylon 218W, because the filling is exactly the same. Regarding the Fire key, which, as I understand it, the company places the main emphasis on, we can only say that it is quite convenient both when pressed with your fingers and when resting on your palm – twist the device as you want.

Smoant Ranker 218W box mod in handThe only doubt is caused by the dimensions of the case and considerable weight (more than 300g with batteries), not everyone will like such parameters. Even in my rather large hand, the device takes up a decent amount of space. I would like to scold the manufacturer again for the lack of gas outlet holes on the lid, which the company’s engineers have neglected again. And we are looking forward to 0.05 Ohm support not only in the temperature control mode, but also in the variwatt, Smoant together with Joyetech still have not “pumped up” their boards to reduce the lower resistance threshold.

Liked:

Excellent assembly

Appearance (IMHO)

Fast response (the manufacturer writes about 0.015s)

Good screen

High charging current (up to 1.3A)

Firmware update and installation of your own images (customization!)

Disliked:

Quite large and heavy for two 18650

No lock for adjustment buttons

Resistance support in variable wattage mode only from 0.1 Ohm
