Chinese engineers from Joyetech never cease to delight us with new products. Today we will look at a new spy-style kit from one of the largest companies — the ESPION MOD box mod and the ProCore X atomizer.
It seems that the Joyetech conveyor never stops for a minute. Just recently, we looked at new budget solutions for beginners in the form of EXCEED D19 and EXCEED BOX, then an advanced “TV” with a large touch screen CUBOID PRO, and already on 12/19/2017, the tireless guys officially announced the launch of a new product — ESPION with ProCore X. And if the touch cuboid can hardly boast of high demand so far, today’s new product can repeat the real success of its progenitor, the legendary Cuboid 150W.
It is unlikely that anyone looks closely at the box when buying, but I would still like to remind you that Joyetech products are among the most counterfeited. new zealand vaping I personally had the chance to hold “left” Evikas and Cuboids in my hands, and you can already tell that these are not original products by the quality of the printing on the box and small flaws in the form of crooked fonts. So study the packaging carefully and look at what you are being sold. My sample differs from the release device only by a red round sticker with the inscription Sample. Not for sale, there are no markings on the device that this version differs from the one that will be available in stores. On the front side, behind the print of the black device, you can see the very spy that gave the name to the box mod (espion – French spy), the name of the battery pack flaunts on top, and the manufacturer’s logo is below. On the back side, only the main characteristics and all the contents of the box are listed, there are also the company details and a standard sticker with a verification code under a scratch-off layer and a four-color QR code.

As usual, Joyetech boasts a rich package and a bunch of papers included with the kit. The only casualty of the pre-release kit were both instructions, for the mod and the tank, in my case, although they were detailed and illustrated.
Appearance of the ESPION 200W TC BOX with ProCore X TC Kit
As usual, you can buy both the ESPION MOD box mod and the ProCore X atomizer separately, I got my hands on the Kit, i.e. the set. If we abstract from the slightly reduced size, then we have the good old Cuboid in front of us. But with a redesigned filling, new controls and some other important changes: a color screen, an enlarged Fire button and a different location of the 510 connector.
At the time of publication of the review, the kit is available in three colors: Black (as in this article), Gunmetal and Blue. The color, frankly speaking, refers more to the mod than to the entire kit, the latter option is equipped with a Silver atomizer.
The new ProCore X Tank atomizer with a diameter of 25 mm is designed to show that the box mod, despite its small dimensions, easily copes with large diameters of atomizers. The new tank is a slightly modified version of the previously reviewed ProCore Aries, which was included with the Cuboid Pro. There are practically no differences compared to its predecessor, and, by and large, it is not particularly clear why it was necessary to release a new product that differs from the previous version only visually, and even then not very much.

Evaporators for ProCore X Tank
The atomizer comes with two replaceable evaporators: one, as usual, is already installed in the tank and although it has no noticeable smell, a slight taste from the packaging is present at first when vaping. The second is hermetically sealed in a blister, with it there is no such problem. The first ProC1 at 0.4 Ohm is offered by the manufacturer for free draw, the second ProC1-S at 0.25 Ohm for cigarette draw. I understand that “tight draw” is a vague concept, but even the reduced diameter of the winding mandrel with such resistance and the recommended power of 25-55 W still do not allow the ProCore X to be called a “cigarette” tank. In general, a good try, Joyetech, but it still turned out to be an exclusively sub-ohm atomizer.
Impressions and conclusions
Battery compartment of the ESPION MOD box mod by JoyetechI had the kit in my hands for about four days, I used the mod mostly. There is nothing special to say about the ProCore X tank, this is another product designed for the use of replaceable evaporators, and not always cheap ones. It copes with its task – nicotine delivery – quite well, the most interesting thing in it is the filling cap, but the drip tip only inspires bewilderment. Yes, when using such a mouthpiece, perhaps, heats up less than the 510 format, but if there was an 810, it would be much more appropriate. The tank itself does not leak, the taste is average, the vapor is produced a lot, everything is quite familiar for sub-ohm non-serviceable devices. There are many more thoughts about the ESPION box mod, but the general opinion is ambiguous. The device itself is excellently made, there are no serious complaints about it, but there are minor flaws. I would like to believe that they are connected with the fact that the device is pre-release, i.e. samples are often unfinished. In my copy, there is a case assembly flaw at the junction of the upper and lower parts to the left of the screen, perhaps someone will notice it in some photos. During use, misfires periodically occur, this does not happen often, but usually happens after some time without work. The slow color screen is a little annoying, but it lags noticeably only when navigating the menu and when switching from the variwatt mode to the clock, when the background is completely redrawed. When simply changing the power values, no special problems were encountered, everything works fine.
ProCore X Tank Extension TubeI really liked the appearance, despite the grooves that are constantly clogged with dirt and dust. The device fits perfectly in the hand, it is not very heavy and not as large as the old Cuboid 150. The large, convenient Fire button works instantly, there are no delays during use. But this concerns the second press, when exiting sleep mode, it still takes a little time to wake up the board. I will attribute the appearance of a new button to the unambiguous advantages, which simplifies the control of the device. Function (aka Fn) allows you to turn off the screen with a simple press, switches modes when held down and simplifies navigation through the settings. At first, its appearance caused bewilderment, but over time you begin to understand the convenience of such a solution. As always, Joyetech has rich functionality of the board and the ability to update the firmware, high charging current, the use of a balancer, and the still unbroken barrier of 0.1 Ohm. It is difficult to say what the reason is, but against the background of many competitors who have long lowered the bar to 0.05 Ohm, the products of a large Chinese manufacturer are already starting to lose. Perhaps this is only a software limitation, and the manufacturer itself will fix it with the release of an update, as well as some minor flaws in operation.
