Review of Eleaf iStick Pico 21700 with ELLO tank

In this review, we will study the new iStick Pico at maximum settings, released by the same Eleaf company.

About two years ago, the vaping market was seriously shaken up by one interesting device from Eleaf, which to this day remains one of the most popular devices ever released. As you probably already guessed, we are talking about the same little iStick Pico at 75 watts. The box mod showed how compact and at the same time functional a device with one battery can be. At the moment, the above-mentioned mod is in demand among fans of cigarette tanks, because it is this combination that provides both autonomy and modest dimensions. Today, we will pass by the iStick Pico 25, which with its new design is somewhat different from its ancestor, and get acquainted with the direct successor of that same “Pico”, but with updated technical characteristics and capabilities.

Eleaf, please hire a normal designer for your team, because describing the same box over and over again is already getting boring. Seriously, each time the products of this company come in standard packaging, on which only the image of the device changes and a few decorative elements are added. A white box, logos all around, a list of the equipment on the back, some icons and legal inscriptions that are unimportant to the average user. disposable vape in new zealand The color of the device lying inside is indicated in crooked font on one of the sides above the barcode. There is also a verification code for originality. We are done with the boring part of the review, let’s open the box.

Under the lid, as they say, is the “face of the product”. Almost the entire set immediately appears before the eyes: the ELLO tank, the box mod and a spare glass nearby. All this is neatly packed in foam rubber. You can see a ribbon, by pulling which you can get to the rest of the set, which, by the way, is not poor at all.

The appearance and design of the ELLO tank

Unlike the latest unserviced Joyetech products, the brainchild of Eleaf looks and feels much nicer. The tank has a nice appearance, it is assembled quite well for a Chinese product, and the manufacturer did not skimp on the quality and quantity of metal. The first impression of ELLO is quite positive. Let’s see a little later how the device will show itself in operation.

At the top, as usual, we can see the filling cap with a wide delrin drip tip inserted into it. At the bottom there is a tightening adjustment ring with stoppers in two extreme positions. The connector part is quite typical for such tanks and bears the company name, certificates and the manufacturer’s logo. The positive pin suddenly sticks out of the connector quite well, but this is unlikely to give the green light in terms of using this device on mechanical mods with a hybrid connector.

It is worth noting the very convenient ELLO tank filling system, which, by the way, is absolutely not new and has been in service with Eleaf for a long time. To gain access to the not very narrow filling hole, you need to move the top cover in the direction indicated by a special arrow. Opening and closing is sounded by a pleasant click. The cover is convenient, no questions asked.

The iStick Pico 21700 at the time of its release received as many as six possible color solutions: greenery, black, hot pink, gray, brushed silver, silver. Probably, with the growing popularity of the device, new colors will appear, as it was with the very first “Pico”. In our review today, in my opinion, the most interesting and bright color is green.

It is unlikely that we will be able to tell much about the design of the new iStick Pico. If you do not count the increased dimensions and some cosmetic changes, then you can say with complete confidence that this device almost completely repeats the appearance of the iStick Pico 75W. At the bottom on the sides are the name and logo of the manufacturer, as well as the name of the mod itself. The front control panel has an impressive Fire button, an enlarged screen and a micro-USB port for charging and updating the firmware.

The top of the box mod is equipped with a large and, at first glance, reliable connector, capable of accommodating atomizers up to 25 mm in diameter. Nearby, you can see two screws holding the body. The battery compartment cover is also here. The power control buttons are again waiting for us at the bottom of the device. There are a couple more screws and holes for gas removal or ventilation.

The battery compartment cover is screwed on along the external thread on the mod body itself and has, by the way, a very fine thread. Of course, it does not inspire confidence, but there are no special complaints about its operation. Inside the shaft there is a large “plus” sticker, and on the cover there is an engraving “minus”. You will definitely not mix up the polarity of the battery.

The iStick Pico 21700 box mod can work with three of the most popular battery formats today: 18650, 20700 and 21700. To use the first one, you will need a special plastic adapter, which is included in the kit. This thing is pulled over the positive contact of the battery, after which the entire structure is immersed in the battery compartment shaft. The lid, pressing any of the three possible power elements, allows them not to dangle inside.

The device works best with the 21700 format, since in this case there is a clear increase in both autonomy and output power. Having three types of power elements at once, I was able to test the iStick Pico 21700 on all three fronts. With “weaker” batteries, I would recommend using the device in conjunction with some kind of cigarette maker, of which there have been a decent number on the market lately.

The box mod immediately turns on automatically at the last turns of the screw cap of the battery compartment, showing us its enlarged screen. Next, we will look at the capabilities of the board installed inside the iStick Pico 21700.

Impressions and conclusions

In order to form some objective opinion regarding the ELLO tank, I needed literally a few days of use. But I mercilessly exploited the box mod itself for about two or more weeks. During this time, I managed to thoroughly study the device from all sides, identify all its positive and negative sides. Let’s analyze the entire “kit” point by point, without breaking it down into its component parts.

What I liked:

In the ELLO tank, I liked the build quality. Everything is assembled quite well, the O-rings do their job well, everything rotates quite smoothly.

Plus to the above-mentioned atomizer for its drip tips. The 810 format, no matter how you look at it, almost completely survived the 510. And, although the drip tips used in ELLO are equipped with O-rings, this does not prevent you from “using” them on some drippers or tanks with an internal O-ring. I think I explained it clearly.

We finish praising the tank and proceed to the mod, starting with the ergonomics of the iStick Pico 21700. The device has retained the same design, the same shapes, the same appearance. Due to the increased dimensions, the mod now fits even better in the hand and feels very comfortable.

Although subjective, but in green the box mod looks very, very nice. In general, from the six colors presented, everyone can choose something to their taste.

Landing pad for atomizers with a diameter of up to 25 mm. Almost any modern tanks and drippers without visually unpleasant sides will feel great on the mod.

Eleaf boards have been working as they should lately. iStick Pico 21700 is also no exception. And the functionality of this mod is quite impressive.

Support for the three most popular types of batteries at the moment. Plus, an adapter for 18650 is included.

We conclude the laudatory review with a rich set of accessories, which has everything you need and a couple of extra goodies in the form of the ability to increase the volume of the ELLO tank.

What I didn’t like:

We started with the advantages of the tank, and will finish with its disadvantages. Or rather, only disadvantages. This is, of course, a very mediocre flavor transfer. No, for beginners or simply those who do not care about this parameter, the taste in ELLO will be enough. But, more experienced guys are unlikely to vape this cleric.

The box mod gets a minus from me for the “so-so” assembly. Some parts protrude a little, some have gaps. The Fire button, although convenient, shakes. The plastic covering the display is loose.

The battery compartment cover does not inspire confidence, the threads are small, they crunch when tightened. The first version of the iStick Pico had a similar problem, but, oddly enough, nothing happened to the cover over time. Let’s hope that in this case everything will be fine.

Eleaf has clearly overdone it with the board controls. Switching between vaping modes by pressing the Fire button three times is especially annoying. If you miss the desired mode, you continue to frantically click the button. In addition, judging by the icons in the menu, it is completely unclear what this or that means.
